Frequently Asked Questions

Why convert G-code to STL?

Converting G-code into an STL model allows you to visualize or edit a print as a standard 3D mesh. This is useful for reverse-engineering, inspecting prints, or modifying a model after slicing. Instead of running a slicer again, you can directly get the printed shape back.

How do I use this converter?

Simply import your .gcode file and click Convert. You can preview the layers and adjust settings before exporting. For detailed steps, see the How to convert Gcode to STL online section above.

What file formats are supported?

Input: .gcode (text-based G-code). Output: .stl (STL mesh) by default (and .3mf if selected). Both formats are universally supported by 3D editors and printers.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. Our tool runs entirely online. No registration or download is required. Your G-code is converted right in the browser.

Can I preview my print first?

Yes. The Gcode viewer shows the G-code toolpath and resulting geometry. You can rotate or animate the print layers to inspect the model before exporting.

Are there file size limits?

Large G-code files may take longer to load and convert. We recommend G-code files under a few hundred MB. If conversion is slow, try reducing file size (e.g. by slicing at lower resolution) or splitting into smaller segments.

My STL looks blank or incomplete.

This may happen if your G-code contains mainly moves without extrusion (for example, a CNC job or non-extrusion commands). Ensure your G-code includes extrusion moves (such as from an FDM 3D printer slicer). You can also adjust the Extrusion Radius setting to capture fine walls.

Is my data secure?

Yes. The conversion happens in your browser or on secure servers. We do not permanently store your files. You can safely delete your session data any time.
